‎U.S. TROOPS IN EUROPE. Issues Costs And Choices.‎

‎Brookings Institution: 1971. 177 pages. "More than 25 years after the close of WWII the United States still maintains powerful military forces in Western Europe. To some these forces are a costly anachronism; others consider them vital to American security and to constructive political change in Europe. The debate is especially sharp in the U.S. Senate where several proposals to cut troop strength in Europe were extensively considered and narrowly defeated in 1971. And the debate is likely to continue for the issues go to the heart of U.S. foreign policy. This book explores those issues in the lift of changing circumstances on both sides of the Atlantic." ‎Handwritten letter from a William to his Brother Henry. Written in Osage‎

‎No Place: No Publisher 1858. Unbound. Good. Handwritten letter from a William to his Brother Henry. Written in Osage although no further geographical details are mentioned other than 'West.' Dated October 23 1858. Almost four page in length a single sheet folded once. William describes in long somewhat rambling sentences his life in Osage running or tending to a lumber mill mentioning the long hours he keeps sawing wood as well as several breaks in the dam at the mill and the breakdown of the wheel at the mill. The letter begins with him mentioning that he has to 'keep Batchelor's Hall tonight' referring to his meal and putting to bed his four year old girl. He talks of selling out to his brother although apparently declines this and refers to the Cape presumably Cape Cod as Boston is mentioned and his potential of going back home to the Cape for a visit. William also speculates that 'the West will be the garden of the world some day.' In general William describes a somewhat monotonous existence of sawing and living being matter of fact but not complaining offering a few details of his life in Osage. GOOD condition. Several horizontal and vertical fold creases present with minor tearing along the folds. Some soiling staining and uneven fading with a few words illegible or obscured. A bit of brown paper stuck to the lower portion of the first page obscuring a few words. $45.00--. No Publisher unknown‎
