‎Quatrième édition du texte de Victor Hugo qui constitue le VIe romans des Oeuvres de Victor Hugo publiées par Eugène Renduel. Ce roman écrit dans sa prime jeunesse, Victor Hugo ayant dix-huit ans lors de la rédaction de sa première version, parait en 1820 dans Le Conservateur littéraire, sans nom d'auteur. La première édition en volume date de février 1823, toujours sans nom d'auteur mais elle est fautive. Alors en avril de cette même année, Hugo fait paraître une version dont il a corrigé les coquilles et remanié quelques passages. C'est en 1832 qu'Hugo et Renduel, son éditeur, envisagent la présente édition. Elle paraîtra l'année suivante avec ses trois préfaces datées respectivement de mai 1833, janvier 1823 pour la première édition et avril 1823 pour la seconde. Ex-libris Bibliothèque de M.
