Bosphorus to Kerempeh from the Russian survey of 1834 with additions and corrections by Commander W. J. L. Wharton., R. N. 1872-80. It's written 'London published according to Act of Parliament at the Hydrographic Office of the Admiralty Jare. 16th 1854. Also shows Killa Bay (Shile Bay) from a survey by Lieut. Comm. W. R. Pristen and the midshipmen of H. M. S. Royal Sovereign, 1920. Topography partly from a Turkish map. Up side of map, engraved a view from sea of entrance of the Bosphorus, Rumili (sic. Rumeli) Lighthouse and environment with several hills. And also shows Amastra (Ancient Amastris) from Russian surveys, 1834-41; Kosku Bay from a surbey by Capt. Spratt R. N. 1854; and Sungul Bay (Zonguldak) from the Heraclee Companys plans to 1915. A rare navigation chart.

The 6th century heralded important changes in Cretan society reflected in the reorganization of burial grounds new patterns of sanctuary dedication and the circulation of exotica among the elite. Shows southwest of the Gallipoli Peninsula [and the Hellespont], Edremid Gulf, Tenedos, and North Aegean shores of Anatolia]. Folded. This is one of the series of the Bonn projection maps which are the first map series in modern techniques in Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. In order to produce these maps covering Turkish territory, Reconnaissance Branch was incorporated into The Mapping Commission. The maps were produced in the datum based on the latitude and longitude of the Ayasofya Mosque in equal area Bonn Projection. The field works for the 123 sheets covering the country were conducted by 76 staff. The production was completed in 18 years starting from east-west. Fieldworks continued without stopping except in the years 1914 and 1920. This map series called also reconnaissance maps contributed a lot to producing 1:25.000 scale maps. In Italia, le sue conferenze ebbero a oggetto l'affacciarsi delle concezioni dualistiche nel mondo greco: Buonaiuti lo individua nella reinterpretazione, in termini di religiosità orfico-dionisiaca, della vecchia tradizione mitologica operata dai tragici greci; rielaborate, esse vennero pubblicate a Roma nel 1938 con il titolo "Amore e morte nei tragici greci". Tra i temi trattati: l'amore nei tragici greci (passando dalle Supplici di Eschilo alle donne di Sofocle); il dolore nei tragici greci (sia il dolore fisico sia quello morale); il rimorso e la morte nei tragici greci; la religione e l'arte (la religione blasfema di Euripide; l'entusiasmo e l'estasi in Platone e Aristotele). In 8° (20,1×12,7 cm); VIII, 122, (6) pp. Bellissima legatura in tutta pelle con titolo, autore, cornici, ricchissima cornice vignetta al piatto anteriore e la celebre composizione che caratterizza tutti i volumi dei classici del ridere al dorso opera di De Karolis, impresse a secco. Frontespizio ed antiporta impressi in rosso. Esemplare in ancora in barbe ed in perfette condizioni di conservazione. Numerose tavole di Antonio Moroni nel testo. Prima edizione della sesta opera pubblicata da Formiggini nella celeberrima collana dei Classici del Ridere, nel caso di questo volume, nella rara versione in piena pelle chiara. L'opera contiene i celebri Mimi del celebre poeta greco antico Eroda, o Eronda (Alessandria d'Egitto o Coo, III secolo a.C. - Coo, inizio III secolo a.C.) famoso per le sue composizioni in mimiambi, cioè mimi composti in metro giambico nella forma di scazonti o coliambi. "Di Eroda ci sono giunti otto componimenti in parte lacunosi, più un nono del tutto frammentario, tornati alla luce nell'Ottocento grazie a ritrovamenti papiracei. Infatti, nel 1891, il filologo inglese Frederic George Kenyon pubblicò un papiro del British Museum di Londra, che conteneva 7 mimi e frammenti di un ottavo mimo. Kenyon li attribuì ad Eroda sulla scorta della tradizione indiretta, vale a dire delle citazioni, attribuite esplicitamente a Eroda, che si trovano nei testi di autori posteriori a lui e che combaciano con i testi contenuti nel papiro. Inaspettate e singolari coincidenze, "non facilmente spiegabili", sono invece riscontrabili in un'opera poetica mediolatina, di autore riconducibile alla cerchia di Federico II di Svevia, la commedia elegiaca De uxore cerdonis di Iacopo da Benevento". Raro.
