Sanson era il più famoso cartografo francese della storia moderna, cosmografo al servizio di Luigi XIV, re di Francia; dotò le sue mappe delle più recenti informazioni geografiche e delle incisioni più belle e acute del periodo. Il "Cartes Generales de Toutes les Parties du Monde" rappresenta il più importante prodotto della cartografia commerciale francese del diciassettesimo secolo.Le mappe furono compilate a partire dal 1630 e l'atlante edito per la prima volta nel 1654, stampato da Pierre Mariette. Map taken from "Cartes Gènerales de toutes les parties du Monde" by Sanson.The maps were compiled by Nicolas Sanson who published his atlas in 1654, with 100 maps, and printed by Pierre Mariette; they were issued progressively from 1630. Sanson was the most noted French cartographer in modern history. Divination was a central feature in the workings of the Roman government and this book explores the ways in which it changed under the pressure of factors of socio-political complexity and disruption. It discusses the ways in which the problem of the prediction of the future is constructed in the literature of the period. Finally, it explores the impact that the emergence of the Augustan regime had on the place of divination in Rome and the role that divinatory themes had in shaping the ideology of the new regime.

Carta geografica tratta dal rarissimo "Anfiteatro d'Europa" edito a Venezia nel 1623. Il libro, scritto con testo di Giovanni Doglioni, fu pubbicato dall'editore veneziano Giacomo Sarzina. Illustrato da una carta del mondo e 33 carte dell'Europa ne testo. Stranamente le mappe sono riprese da quelle che illustrano l'Epitome di Ortelius incise da Philip Galle e non da quelle dell'edizione pirata della stessa opera pubblictaa a Brescia da Pietro Marchetti (1598). Si tratta pertanto di nuove lastre, che presentano picocle differenze rispetto a quelle del Marchetti, alle quali ad un primo esame assomigliano. L'opera non fu mai ristampata ed è pertanto rara. Incisione in rame, inserita nella pagina di testo descrittivo alla carta, fori di tarlo, per il resto in buono stato di conservazione. Together with the text there are one world map and 33 maps of Europe. Oddly enough, these maps were realized after those shown in Ortelius Epitome, engraved by Philip Galle, and not after the pirate edition published by Pietro Marchetti in Venice. These are therefore new plates, presenting minor differences with those of Marchetti. The work has never been reissued and is quite rare. Première édition, paris 1788. Avec les Lettres sur la Grèce, illustré d’un plan et d’une carte dépliante. Les 4 volumes en reliures uniformes, bel exemplaire. Contemporain de Volney, l’orientaliste Savary (1750-1788) contribua à une meilleure connaissance de l’Egypte. Son histoire et ses indications sur son gouvernement apportaient, à la veille de l’expédition d’Egypte, des renseignements précieux sur ce pays. « C’est un voyageur sérieux, documenté. Il a lu tous les voyageurs qui l’ont précédé et il en fait son profit ».
