Anatomy of Arcadia
'...an account of a year spent on the Greek island of Paxos." "His wry and beautifully written excursion into a dystopian Arcadia is rooted in his sardonic wit and the pitiless eye that he turns on modern Greece, on modern Greeks, and, not the least, on himself." (this copy marred by underlinings and comments from a previous reader- some of which, however, are quite interesting-) Book

Somoza, Jose Carlos
The Athenian Murders
"When the body of a young man is discovered on the slopes of Mount Lycabettus, it is initially assumed that a pack of wolves is responsible for his death. But Tramachus, an aspiring student at Plato"s academy, has been murdered and Heracles, known as the "Decipherer of Enigmas", is called in to help unravel the truth. Meanwhile, in the footnotes of The Athenian Murders, a second story is emerging. The modern-day translator realises that there is a message hidden in the images of the original narrative. And the more he translates, the more the clues pull together to reveal an astonishing truth, one that bears an eerie resemblance to his own life . . ." Book

Ta Tragika Gegonota Tis Teleutaias Triakonta-Pentaetias Ops to Ezesa = The tragic evenst of the past 35 years
There are many tragic and other large events I covered journalistically in my long career: deadly shipwrecks, kidnappings for ransom, hijacking, leoforeiopeirateies, pick history, deadly and destructive earthquakes, major fires with tragic consequences, plane crashes, deadly road accidents, various accidents with many victims and many other matters which are of remember young and old. All these assumptions include the book I lived close. I report everything in place the events. Merely recording any notable progress. Inform readers and viewers in simple words about what happened, how it happened, why it happened, the consequences which followed, but for every important aspect to be interesting. What I tried to do, and in this book. Objective record of what I saw and lived on journalistic missions, without exaggeration, without a trace of exaggerating. With a few words it is a compendium of all the major events that have shaken public opinion in the last thirty-year. 559p.[ Book

Le pietre dei greci. Letteratura, mito, saperi naturali
Sophocles. ; Tchernichowsky, Saul
EDIPUS HA-MELEKH [OEDIPUS REX]
First Hebrew edition. Original papers wrappers. 8vo. 206 pages, 22 cm. In Hebrew. Title translates to Oedipus Rex. Oedipus the King is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles and first performed in about 429 BCE. It follows the story of King Oedipus of Thebes as he discovers that he has unwittingly killed his own father, Laius, and married his own mother, Jocasta. Over the centuries, it has come to be regarded by many as the Greek tragedy par excellence and certainly as the summit of Sophocles achievements. The tragedy was translated by the Hebrew Zionist poet and fathers of modern Hebrew poetry, Shaul Tchernichowsky. He was fluent in many languages including Latin and Greek and he translated into Hebrew Homers Iliad and the Odyssey as Shakespeares Twelfth night and Macbeth (Wiki, 2016) . SUBJECTS: Sophocles -- Translations into Hebrew. Oedipus (Greek mythological figure) -- Drama. Oedipus (Greek mythological figure) . OCLC lists 15 copies worldwide. Minor shelf wear with very minor chipping to corners. Cover wrapper is loose. Overall Very Good Condition. (HEB-50-2)
