"Cette petite composition est un monument de l'humeur joyeusa de nos pères... pièce peu commune",. Canto carnascialesco anonimo,presentato della'editore, "un arrière petit-neveu du Docteur Matanasius". Descrive in versi e nei dettagli il corteo di Bacco quelo della Domenica Grassa con le sue Dame d'Onore (tra cui la Pucelle d'Orléans), e infne, Le Mont de PARNASSE con 9 lavandaie in luogo di Muse, e il "Charriot de Musique Douce, conduit par le PORC sellé, et la TRUIE qui file". Ogni figurante è descritto e spiegato nelle ampie NOTE e costituiscono precisi riferimenti, oltre che mitologici, a locali, alberghi e osterie, al VINO e ai cibi grassi, e a personaggi lionesi del tempo. Questo Saturnale fu giudicato scandaloso e alla sua empietà fu attribuita la peste che l'anno dopo, 1628, imperversò in Lione. L'editore però fa presente che la mascherata del 1627, pur impudica, non oltraggiava né il clero né le cose sante. Un libraio che ne offre nel web un esemplare (unito a un altro poemetto coevo - a prezzo ben più che ragguardevole - Webster's Bookstore Cafe) lo attribuisce a un Louis Garon (Genève 1574 - 1631) scrittore lionese autore di facezie. ‎1931. Rare half-tone portrait of Canadian golf legend George Lyon. Signed by Lyon "Geo. S. Lyon." Period frame. The entire piece measures 8.25 inches by 5.75 inches. In very good condition. Although he only began playing golf at the age of 38 due to lack of available golf courses in most areas of Canada before that date George Seymour Lyon won the gold medal in golf in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis Missouri at age 46 only eight years after beginning the sport. He won the Canadian Amateur Championship a record eight times between 1898 and 1914 the last time in his 56th year. He was also runner-up in that event on two further occasions. He won the Canadian Seniors' Golf Association Championship ten times between 1918 and 1930 the final time in his 72nd year; these events were staged before the inauguration of the Canadian Senior Golf Championship by Golf Canada. unknown books‎
