‎Belle et très grande carte des environs de Paris, dressée d'après la Carte topographique des environs de Versailles, dite des Chasses Impériales (en 13 feuilles, dont 1 carte d'assemblage), qui fut l'une des plus grandes entreprises cartographiques de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle. Les 9 premières feuilles parurent à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Les 4 dernières feuilles ne furent achevées qu'en 1807, pour les chasses de l'Empereur. La carte de Brué est en quelque sorte une réduction de la carte des chasses impériales. Elle s'étend du nord au sud entre L'Isle-Adam et Corbeil-Essonnes, et d'ouest en est entre Thoiry et Crécy-la-Chapelle. Couvrant une surface de 3 400 km2, elle se distingue par la précision et la multitude des détails représentés. Elle est également très utile pour la connaissance générale de l'occupation du sol (labours, prés, vignes, cultures maraîchères et légumières, bois, remises, parcs) et de l'hydrographie (canal Saint-Denis et canal de l'Ourcq). Au centre de la carte se trouve Paris, assez bien détaillée. Les limites de la ville sont indiquées par l'enceinte de Thiers, aquarellée en vert. L'enceinte de Thiers, du nom de l'homme politique qui conçut le projet, fut construite entre 1841 et 1844, à la demande de Louis-Philippe, qui souhaitait faire construire autour de la capitale une enceinte bastionnée qui rendrait la ville imprenable. Constituée de 94 bastions, elle englobait non seulement Paris mais aussi les communes environnantes : Montmartre, La Villette, Belleville, Charonne, Bercy, Auteuil, Passy, etc. Tout autour de cette enceinte, on fit construire 16 forts détachés, qui figurent ici représentés par des vignettes aquarellées en rouge et vert. Les lignes de chemins de fer sont également représentées, aquarellées en brun. La carte est décorée d'un cartouche de titre et encadrée d'une bordure. Brué fut l'un des meilleurs cartographes du XIXe siècle. Il a dressé de nombreuses cartes remarquables par la pureté de la gravure et l'exactitude des renseignements. Bel exemplaire aquarellé à l'époque. Édition omise par Vallée.‎
