Octavo pp. i-ix x xi xii xiii-xiv 15 16-100 101-108: ads one map numerous illustrations in the text original pictorial paper wrappers printed in light brown and black with picnic hamper background. First U.S. edition. Issued as "Seaside Library Pocket Edition" number 970 dated 30 April 1887. First published in London by Vizetelly & Co. in 1887. This is a later printing of Munro's American piracy with publisher's ads for later books in the "Seaside Library" on page 105. "This parody on 'King Solomon's Mines' was for many years attributed to Andrew Lang. In 1921 however writing to the SKETCH in August concerning a caricature of Haggard by 'Maat' which had appeared in its issue for Aug. 3 Ernest Vizetelly gave the name of the author of 'King Solomon's Wives' as Sir Henry Chartres Biron who wrote it when he was a young barrister." - Scott.
