ALS 3pp lettersheet 4½" X 7¼" n.p. 7 May 1874. Addressed to Dr. Tristram. Very good. Writing on stationery bearing an oval blind-embossed "House of Commons" imprint in his bold sloppy but legible hand the newly-elected m.p. writes a constituent about a touchy church issue: "I would willingly help you if I could for I think it would be very lamentable to have the peace of the Congregation disturbed by the introduction of Ritualistic preachers. But I feel sure that any interference on my part with the patronage of the Prime Minister would be looked on by him as rather an impertinence & would do more harm than good. Would it not be well to bring on the part of influential members of the Congregation the facts mentioned in your letter under his notice This seems to me the best plan you can adopt for preventing the appointment of a Clergyman whose views would be distressful of the majority." First edition of the classic Italian burlesque of the eighteenth century. Forteguerri a native of Pistoia in Tuscany was a civilian official in the Papal Court. These thirty canti in ottava rima pillory members of the Curia women and all levels of society. Published a few years after the author's death the Ricciardetto went through a number of editions. Gamba 2241; Parenti Luoghi Falsi 160-161; Brunet I: 1604. NUC 178: 451 NF 0252417 lists 6 copies. Handsomely printed and handsomely rebound by Dragonfly Bindery George & Pat Sargent in marbled paper boards and leather spines. Condition: dampstains ca. 1 cm. in gutter where original spine was wet there was probably a fire and the spines were lightly but sufficiently sprayed. First three & last three leaves in both volumes slightly soiled. Some irregular rust marks from impurities in the water when the paper was made. Early signature of Chas. The Mediaeval Castle The Medieval Castle removed from newspaper and attached to pages of a ledger
1944. Hardcover. Very Good. Consists of 1 ledger 39 cm. sold by Schiff Bros. Philadelphia. Red cloth spine and corners with gilt-stamped border; black morrocco-grain cloth over boards. After original use as a business ledger the first 13 pages were used as a scrapbook for newspaper clippings from 1937 about the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War. Includes articles by Reginald Sweetland H. R. Ekins James A. Mills M. W. Fodor Kingsbury Smith Morris J. Harris and A. T. Steele as well as war photographs. Pages 14-42 contain accounts for a mattress company from June 1921 to Dec. 1922 with payments to Hudson Mattress Girard Bed Altona Mattress Philadelphia Cotton Co. Eagle Bed and Enterprise Bed among others. Flipping the volume upside down and starting from the back pages 89-152 were used to hold The Mediaeval Castle by Hal Foster cut out of a newspaper and attached to the pages. Also six full pages with Prince Valiant by Harold R. Foster from 1942 are folded and housed loose in the ledger. The Medieval Castle was published from April 23 1944 to Nov. 18 1945. A heavy book; for international shipping it will have to be sent by priority international. In Very Good Condition: the clippings of The Medieval Castle are clean and bright as are the other contents; edges of the ledger are rubbed. hardcover

Sir William Yorke Foster and his wife Dame Aileen Ethel Portman 1866-=1948 and their 6 children. present also are portraits of relatives and family friends. All Portraits are identified in pencil under the image.The Foster Baronetcy of Norwich in the County of Norfolk was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 3 August 1938 for William Foster. The title became extinct on the death of the fourth Baronet in 1960.The 95 images were taken by various mostly UK photographs There is one portrait of the 3 rd Baron William Yorke in his Hussar uniform taken by P. Vuccino of Fort Bombay India. I have not attempted to remove many of the cards since their removal would result in damage to the album. The album has a brass clasp missing and has some minor edge wear. no publisher Hardcover
