FATIH RUKANCI, HAKAN ANAMERIÇ, SEKINE KARAKAS.
Istanbul on stamps.
New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (28 x 23 cm). In English. 223 p., color ills. Istanbul on stamps. Istanbul, Constantinople views on Turkish / Ottoman stamps / large philatelic collection. "This work covers nearly a century of stamps, from those insued during the final years of the Ottoman Empire to the present day stamps of the Republic of Turkey. It takes ist reader on a tour of Istanbul through the lens of the city's stamps, covering everthing from Istanbul's sports clubs to its important mosques and tombs, and from its public squares to its palaces, mansions, and waterside villas. Over the course of this journey through the city the reader discovers the communicative power of the visual elements of stamps. By means of these stamps, and the places and events they represent, the reader also rediscovers many aspects of the city he or she would otherwise never have given a second thought to. This work will reawaken beautiful memories, prick the curiosity, and refresh the knowledge of even those who know Istanbul up close. This work shows how the magical atmosphere of the great world metropolis, about which innumerable books have been written, comes to life via the communicative power of stamps.".

Faulkner William Ernest V. Trueblood pseud.. Intro. by Carol de Saint Victor
Afternoon of a Cow
Iowa City: The Windover Press University of Iowa 1991. Limited Edition of 200 copies. Small 4to. 25 cm x 16 1/2 cm pp. 6 v 15. Limited to 200 copies printed from Romanee types on Johannot paper. Sewn binding plain grey flannel paper wrappers with black spine title. As New. This pseudonymous story was written by Faulkner in 1937. After reading it aloud to his French translator Maurice Edgar Coindreau and several others and not receiving the expected appreciation he gave his only copy to his translator. In 1947 Reed Whittemore offered five dollars a page for the right to publish it. Faulkner wrote his agent "It's all right with me about the story. I don't have a copy of it. I wrote it one afternoon when I felt rotten with a terrible hangover with no thought of publication since the story is a ribald one. I don't have a copy. If Whittemoe has one maybe you had better look at it first and decide yourself about letting him print it. I have tried it on various people American who seemed to think it not funny at all but apparently as I realise now they thought it was true in bad taste.". First Edition. Original Wraps. [Iowa City]: The Windover Press, University of Iowa, 1991. Limited Edition of 200 copies. Paperback

FAULKNER Georgene 1873 1958
Autograph Note Signed
"The Story Lady" was a famed American children's book author whose many works include "Old Russian Tales" 1913 "The Story Lady's Book" 1921 "Tales of Many Folk" 1926. "Story Lady's Christmas Stories" 1927 and many others; their popularity earned her regular storytelling programs on popular Chicago radio stations. ANS 2pp heavy stock linen 5" X 3" correspondence card Chicago IL n.y. likely March 1922. Addressed to George. Very good. Two tiny inoffensive mounting traces at left margin not affecting text. Bearing the green printed name/address of "The Faulkner School" a state-of-the-art school for girls founded by her sister in 1909 and where Georgene taught kindergarten Faulkner boldly pens in her large attractive script a note thanking a correspondent for "the honor of being one in your collection of autographs. I have done so little I do not merit having my name in any way in the 'Halls of Fame'." She also transmits not present "one also by McEvoy who does the 'Potters' -- He would give you one I am sure but you might like this also." Writer J.P. McEvoy was Faulkner's editor at P.F. Volland Company her Chicago publisher and the author of the 1922 hit play "The Potters." Faulkner's first editions are quite collectible and her autograph material seldom seen. This example was no doubt occasioned by the debut of her radio program "The Story Lady" on WGN radio. unknown
