Condividono la stessa tecnica, li imbracciamo allo stesso modo e agli occhi dei non addetti ai lavori sembrano lo stesso strumento. Lo strumento perfetto e quello dal suono dannatamente attraente ma imperfetto. È possibile colmare il divario tra i due strumenti? Forse c'è qualcosa che i compositori e i violisti non hanno mai considerato seriamente: il repertorio virtuoso. I violinisti lo usano per raggiungere una grande padronanza del loro strumento, perché i violisti no? Una volta aperti i 24 Capricci di N. Paganini ci si rende immediatamente conto del perché: non sono adattati perfettamente alla viola. Non è il caso di disperare, questo libro si immerge nei grandi, poco conosciuti ma magnifici, esempi di trascrizioni efficaci. Da queste si può imparare come scrivere, come adattare perfettamente e come studiare il repertorio virtuoso sulla viola.‎
