Una vita artistica quella di Paolo legata a doppio filo alla canzone "La forza della vita", classificatasi terza al Festival di Sanremo del 1992 e diventata subito dopo un grande successo discografico. Una canzone che ha segnato l'inizio vero e proprio della sua carriera artistica e al tempo stesso è diventata un punto di riferimento costantemente presente nella sua vita personale e professionale. "La forza della (mia) vita", il libro che prende spunto proprio dal successo discografico, è una breve autobiografia in cui Paolo Vallesi si racconta, ripercorrendo gli avvenimenti della sua esistenza e della sua carriera artistica, ma anche la storia di un grande amore, quello per la musica, nonché gli ideali e le speranze di un uomo del nostro tempo. "Ho una compagna di vita che fin dall'infanzia mi consola, mi aiuta, mi soddisfa e mi fa felice. Si chiama musica. [...] Da ragazzo, timido quale ero, benché mi relazionassi piuttosto bene e facilmente con gli altri, avevo sempre un po' di pudore nel farlo; anche per questo motivo la musica è sempre stata per me uno strumento con cui creare un rapporto con le altre persone oltre che per esternare emozioni". Con queste parole Paolo apre il racconto della sua vita ricca di emozioni e musica. Un riscatto professionale e personale quello di Paolo che ha trovato nella musica la sua ancora di salvezza: "Ho rinvenuto un messaggio di speranza e di salvezza proprio in una delle mie canzoni più conosciute: La forza della vita.
