Avec le concours financier de son intime Lavoisier il fonda une imprimerie en 1791, puis ouvrit aussi une librairie. On a injustement accusé Fourcroy d'avoir, par jalousie laissé condamné Lavoisier. L'impression de ce livre par l'un des plus chers amis de Lavoisier prouve à elle seule le ridicule de cette odieuse imputation. Il s'agit en fait d'un don de l'auteur, car après le 9 thermidor, Fourcroy fut membre du comité de l'instruction publique."
