Pond of the Pond Lecture Bureau regretting that he and his wife are unable to accept Pond's invitation to attend actress Dorothy Sands' show.</p><p>Martin Egan 1872-1938 was an American journalist who wrote for newspapers and magazines in America and Canada and for the Associated Press in New York London Tokyo Peking and Manila. He was a correspondent during the Spanish-American War the Philippine Insurrection the Boxer Uprising and the Russo-Japanese War. He edited the Manila Times from 1908 to 1913. He was personal assistant to H. P. Davison Chairman of the American Red Cross War Council in 1917 and an aide to General Pershing in 1918. La comunicazione di massa esprime un rapporto sociale di tipo burocratico industriale omologo alla struttura di dominio dell'attuale società. Questo è il tema centrale del libro che propone una lettura del fenomeno inserendolo appieno nella problematica della società in cui si verifica. Il lavoro consta di una parte teorica e una empirica, ambedue convergenti sulla tesi fondamentale che la comunicazione di massa vada studiata, al di là delle peculiarità del mezzo tecnologico o del contenuto del messaggio, come struttura funzionale all'egemonia del gruppo sociale dominante. Il rapporto burocratico industriale per cui la comunicazione di massa diffonde e legittima l'attuale forma di dominio può essere destrutturato attraverso il raggiungimento di gradi sempre maggiori di coscienza possibile dei gruppi interagenti fra di loro e con la struttura di cui fanno parte. War reportage from the Second World War by a Russian journalist as he viewed his country being invaded by the German army. Bumping and fading to the backstrip edges and rubbing to the book corners. Heavy browning to the text block edges. Browning and offset tanning to the end papers and the internal pages browned commensurate with paper used within the book's production. Original bookseller's sticker previous owner's name to the top right-hand corner of the free front and paper. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the lower backstrip edge. Rubbing and creasing to the other dustwrapper edges with the occasional small tear. The major damage to the dustwrapper is to the backstrip region where there has been almost complete separation of the backstrip from the dustwrapper panels. The front backstrip edge has a 3.75 " split and the remainder of the edge is very thin and shows holes. The rear dustwrapper edge has a split measuring 6 " from 1.5 inches from the lower dustwrapper edge and the top 2 inches of the backstrip is again connected but the dustwrapper is again thin and shows holes. There is a tear that runs the full width of the backstrip 4 inches down from the top edge and 2 inches lower is a tear which has gone only part way across. The dustwrapper has been affected by sunning the backstrip been particularly affected with almost complete fading of the red titles. Dustwrapper now protected with library sleeving.
