(mm. 210x160), p. pergamena antica (risg. rifatti), titolo ms. al dorso, 16 cc.nn., 467 pp. num., bella e grande vignetta al frontespizio che raffigura una sfera armillare, e, al colophon, marca tipografica di Zanettus (tre lance in palo unite da un nastro, entro cornice figur.); ornato da grandi capilettera decorati ed illustrato nel t. da oltre un centinaio di figure astronomiche e matematiche, il tutto inc. su legno. Importante commento sul “De Sphaera”, opera dell’astronomo e matematico inglese Sacro Bosco, considerato un trattato fondamentale di astronomia che ebbe diffusione enorme durante quattro secoli (la prima ediz. a stampa è del 1472) e fu un testo adottato fino a quasi tutto il XVII secolo. Anche il commento di Clavio, chiamato l’Euclide del XVI secolo, fu pubblicato numerose volte nel corso del ‘500 e ‘600: questa del 1581 è la sua terza edizione (la prima è del 1570). Cfr. Adams,I,2100, p. 294 - Choix de Olschki,VI,6330 - De Baker,I, pp. 198. "Cristoforo Clavio (1537-1612), nome umanistico del matematico ed astronomo tedesco Ch. Schluesse; gesuita, insegnò matematica a Roma nel Collegio romano. A lui soprattutto si rivolse Galileo nel viaggio a Roma del 1611, per superare le prime diffidenze contro le sue scoperte astronomiche; ma il Clavio non si pronunciò nettamente.
