In-8° (cm.24,2), pp. 6 (a p. 501 a p. 506). Illustra un codivce importante per molte buone lezioni di un testo di Archimede in cui si trova la più antica menzione del sistema eliocentrico di ARISTARCO di SAMO "che le stelle fisse e il Sole rimangano immobili, e che la Terra giri seguendo la circonferenza di un cerchio, attorno al Sole, che sta nel mezzo dell'orbita", sistema già allora ritenuto empio perché declassava la Terra, ritenuta dagli stoici il centro dell'Universo. Archimede si propose il problema del numero dei granelli di sabbia, non infinito ma calcolabile "per mezzo di dimostrazioni geometriche".
