Signed by Authors oblong folio. 26x 33cm 76p. heavy stock paper with 40 black & white photographs most 17x 22cm some ephemera cards in two-ring binder with gilt titles & decoration general fine the phtotograph are mint. sgc Polish aeronautical engineer Dr. Julius Lukasiewicz 1919-2018 was head of the High Speed Aerodynamics Laboratory part of the National Research Council in Ottawa from 1950 to 1957. One of Dr. Lukasiewicz's signature achievements was co-designing the world's first Mach 45 trisonic wind tunnel still functioning today. An avid photographer this album outlines his time at the N.R.C. with many portraits of staff and buildings. Included is a signed portrait of "Luke". He went on to the the U.S. to contribute to the manned space program including the Apollo moon shot. Returning to Ottawa in 1971 Dr. Lukasiewicz was a professor at Carleton University until retirement in 1997 teaching mechanical and aerospace engineering. A unique item. . [Ottawa]. 1956. hardcover
