This book was the first digest of the London's laws and guide to its courts after the revisions of the city laws from 1647 and 1658. A useful work that gathered a great deal of disparate information it is a valuable resource today for students of seventeenth-century London and its legal system. Il prit part à toutes sortes d’actions et de dissensions qui divisèrent ces proscrits vivant en Suisse. Il meurt au Vésinet en 1916. Exemplaire numéroté 386 sur 1000. TRES BON ETAT.‎

Tome II (seul) des mémoires de Paul CLUSERET (Suresnes, 1823- Hyères, 1900), militaire et journaliste, à la carrière atypique, lieutenant de la garde nationale en 1848 (participe aux journées de juin sous les ordres de Cavaignac) ; on le retrouve en 1860 aux côtés de Garibaldi, en 1862 général de l’armée des fédérés aux U.S.A., journaliste radical opposé à Lincoln (1863), en Irlande avec les « Fénians » (1867), ce qui lui vaudra une condamnation à mort par les britanniques ; de retour en France, journaliste aussitôt logé à Sainte-Pélagie, puis expulsé (il était de nationalité américaine) ; de retour dès 1870, la Commune le nomme Délégué général à la Guerre ; limogé, accusé, condamné puis absous, échappe à la répression, finit par se réfugier en Suisse ; condamné à mort, rentre après l’amnistie (1880), entame une carrière politique à l’extrême gauche, néanmoins anti-dreyfusard. Quel parcours !‎

‎Le tome II (sur trois, le dernier paraîtra l’année suivante), relate, en trois parties, d’importance inégale, « les derniers combats », suivis de la « conclusion », puis d’une partie théorique : « la guerre des rues », qui, en quelques pages, constitue un petit vade mecum du révolutionnaire, toujours « prêt à se sacrifier pour l’idée seule, l’idée sublime de la délivrance ; sa mort héroïque, c’est l’avenir garanti à ses enfants » (p.289) ; toujours avoir cette pensée (p.274) « qui veut la fin veut les moyens, (…) comment lutter à poitrine découverte contre les fusils à répétition ? Le moyen, le voici : (...) l’utilisation d’engins de destruction » divers, l’incendie, etc. l’histoire de cent trente ans nous montre l’application, le développement, jusqu’au dévoiement des idées nées de la Commune… Curiosité typographique : dès la page 128, le texte de ce volume ne correspond plus à la pagination donnée dans la table (in fine, douze pages de « décalage »). L’exemplaire numérisé in Gallica (imprimé à Saint-Amand (Cher) par Destenay) est identique au nôtre… BUR(H5/7)‎
