‎Lettres d'Émilie Guérin (1824-1909) choisies et présentées par Jean-Noël Plichon. — Emilie Guérin appartenait à une famille fortunée; elle était, notamment, propriétaire du château d'Orly. C’était une femme intelligente et cultivée et, de juin 1869 à mai 1871, elle a écrit une ou deux fois par semaine de longues lettres a son fils Jules, alors ingénieur en Moravie. Cette correspondance (environ 130 lettres) présente le double intérêt de nous fournir des aperçus sur les modes de vie et de pensée de la haute bourgeoisie à la fin du Second Empire et de donner des détails vécus pendant la guerre de 1870 et le siège de Paris qu’elle a subi. Cette source d’informations, émaillée d’anecdotes et de réflexions, accompagnée d’autres documents, et présentée dans son contexte historique, a été regroupée par sujets d’intérêt. On notera, par exemple, avec curiosité les péripéties guerrières de l'autre fils d'Emilie, Edmond, engagé dans les francs-tireurs, pour la défense de Paris, ou bien le prix des denrées pendant le siège, ou encore l'importance de la musique dans la vie sociale. Mêlant des souvenirs à de vieilles lettres, J.-N. Plichon (arriére-petit-fils d'Emilie) a essayé d’évoquer toute une manière de vivre à jamais disparue.‎

‎Troisième édition ; la première était parue en 1887, avec une préface de Rochefort. Eugène Edine Pottier (1816-1887) est surtout connu pour avoir composé les paroles de l'Internationale, qui fut publié pour la première fois précisément dans ce recueil, mais le contexte précis en est moins répandu : après avoir pris une part active à la Commune de Paris, dont il fut élu membre pour le IIe arrondissement. Il siégea à la commission des Services publics, participant aux combats de la Semaine sanglante. En juin 1871, caché dans Paris, il compose son poème L'Internationale et se réfugia aussitôt en Angleterre. Condamné à mort par contumace le 17 mai 1873, il s’exila aux États-Unis, d'où il organisait la solidarité pour les communards déportés.
