Il fisico che visse due volte. I giorni straordinari di Lev Landau, genio sovietico
br. Lev Landau (1908-68) è stato forse il massimo esponente della fisica teorica in Unione Sovietica, e di certo uno dei più grandi scienziati del XX secolo. I suoi brillanti studi sulla superfluidità gli valsero il premio Nobel nel 1962, ma non è solo per questo che ancora oggi i fisici di tutte le età e di tutti i Paesi lo venerano: a lui si deve infatti il più celebre e sistematico trattato di fisica teorica mai pubblicato, su cui si sono formate generazioni di studenti. Geniale, stravagante e polemico, Landau era cresciuto alla corte di Bohr, alla pari con Heisenberg, Pauli e Dirac; in patria invece era guardato con sospetto dal regime e fu addirittura incarcerato. Anche se in seguito riceverà onori e riconoscimenti, non avrà mai più il permesso di uscire dai confini del Paese. Questo libro narra la sua avvincente biografia e, con scrittura semplice e chiara, restituisce la figura a tutto tondo di uno scienziato e di un uomo eccezionale.
