Rara pubblicazione dedicata al tema dell’illuminazione pubblica e teatrale, e propone un sistema di lumiere privo delle nefaste conseguenze delle lampade a gas tradizionali, con bella grande tavola raffigurante una proposta illuminazione del teatro della Scala. In apertura un’introduzione sulla storia dell’ottica e in fine riprodotti alcuni interventi dello scienziato milanese apparsi su periodici del tempo, e una recensione della sua opera Fenomeni della visione, firmata Carlo Vandoni, che analizza le considerazioni dell’autore sulla camera ottica e sul dagherrotipo.
