Con 423 figure in bianco e nero e LIX tabelle nel testo. A pagina VI, illustrazione fotografica, in bianco e nero, raffigurante John Hopkinson, dedicatario del libro. A pagina 4, una parola corretta a matita da mano coeva ("magneting" su "metallic"). Nel bordo esterno di pagina 45, nota e alcune piccole macchie a inchiostro rosso. Nel bordo interno delle pagine 196, 204, 206 e in quello esterno delle pagine 192, 197, 203, note a matita, sempre di mano coeva. Segno di piegatura nell'angolo superiore esterno del foglio con le pagine 123-124 e nell'angolo inferiore esterno dei fogli con le pagine 113-114 e 161-162. Piccola macchia d'inchiostro, che non interessa il testo, nella parte esterna di pagina 303 e nel bordo inferiore di pagina 339. Legatura un po' allentata tra l'ultima pagina del fascicolo b, vale a dire pagina XIV, e la prima del fascicolo c, pagina XV, e tra l'ultima del fascicolo 2 Z, cioè pagina 360, e la prima del fascicolo 3 A, pagina 361.
