He soon decided it was too dangerous to return to Germany and when the ship docked in <span class="match">A</span>ntwerp Belgium he immedi<span class="match">a</span>tely reported to the Germ<span class="match">a</span>n consul<span class="match">a</span>te in Brussels where he turned in his Germ<span class="match">a</span>n p<span class="match">a</span>ssport <span class="match">a</span>nd renounced his citizenship.
