Perché per disinnescare la forza eversiva dell'infanzia, la biopolitica famigliare e sociale non si limita a intervenire in età scolare e prescolare, ma risale alle fasi precoci: svezzamento, parto, gravidanza. Assimilato a un pet da investire di cure, deresponsabilizzato rispetto a corpo, alterità e ambiente, iperresponsabilizzato come un piccolo adulto, il bambino è onnipresente a livello mediatico ma è il perenne assente politico. La delega elettorale scoraggia la partecipazione diretta, i guru dell'azione paralizzano l'individuo con macroproblemi inaffrontabili. È probabilmente arrivato il momento di elaborare delle tattiche di resistenza domestica, di ripensare l'idea di comunità a partire dal bambino. Perché concentrarsi sui piccoli di Sapiens non significa propugnare un'assurda bambinocrazia o avallare una retorica del futuro a tutti i costi, ma vuol dire selezionare un tema sociale occulto, esplorarlo, metterlo a nudo, per criticare i fondamenti di un'ideologia totalitaria. Three million people crowded into ten thousand square miles give Haiti the world's highest population density. Greater than China or India. The blacks and light-skinned Haitians have their racial roots in Africa and cultural roots in France. Only in geography is Haiti Caribbean. Governed by a minority of upper class Elites who do no manual labor the 97 per cent majority are Peasants ministered by white French Catholic Priests or Prêtre Savans. Unordained Bush Priests. Haiti is cruelly divided by language religion and a rigid caste system that thwarts all possibility of reform. From 1915 to 1934 Haiti was occupied by United States Marines who built the few rutted roads that survived in 1951. The Americans instituted the first Public Health measures coping with such epidemic diseases as Yellow Fever Malaria Hookworm Small pox Yaws and Leprosy. For nineteen years American efforts at rural education were frustrated by a governing Elite who feared that with education Peasants would desert the land and no longer be subservient. Although French is Haiti's official language spoken by the Elite everyone speaks Creole. The language of daily life and commerce.<br /><br />Anibal Buitrón Born 22 January 1914 in Otavalo Ecuador. Earned master’s degree in anthropology at University of Chicago in 1950. Had a Gugenheim Fellowship in 1949. Co-author with the anthropologist John Coller of the well-known book The Awakening Valley 1949. During his career he worked with the Pan American Union of the Organization of American States and with UNESCO. In these positions he played important roles in the development of indigenista-oriented anthropology in Latin America. Retired to Watsonville California. Vor welche Herausforderungen sehen sich Hebammen heute angesichts der zunehmenden Medikalisierung und Technisierung der Geburt gestellt? Um diesen und weiteren Fragen nachzugehen, lässt Marita Metz-Becker Hebammen aus drei Generationen zu Wort kommen. In den narrativen Interviews werden lebensgeschichtliche Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede der verschiedenen Hebammengenerationen deutlich. Die Autorin betrachtet die Aussagen dabei nicht nur in ihrer individuellen Dimension, sondern in ihrem sozialen, historischen und kulturellen Kontext. So wird neben dem Wandel des Hebammenberufs auch jener von Geburt und Gebären veranschaulicht. Dabei zeigt sich, dass die Hebammen die moderne Geburtsmedizin nicht nur als Fortschritt begreifen, sondern durchaus kritisch diskutieren und auch deren gesamtgesellschaftliche Auswirkungen im Blick haben. Born in Cincinnati Ohio of mixed Irish German and Eastern Cherokee heritage Meyer graduated from the University of Cincinnati and went on to receive her doctorate in American history from the University of Minnesota in 1985. Already as a student Meyer began her search for answers to questions about Native American identity that would ultimately define her intellectual journey and scholarly career.With the publication of The White Earth Tragedy in 1994 Meyer established her reputation as a leading scholar in her field. In it she detailed the expropriation of land from Anishinaabegs of the Great Lakes region from 1889 to 1920. Her research demonstrated the adaptivity of the Anishinaabegs in the face of migration intermarriage federal policy and corporate schemes. She also revealed how internal divisions tragically furthered the process of their dispossession. Her analysis of ethnicity among the Anishinaabegs at White Earth showed how distinctions between "mixed bloods" and "full-bloods" came to be framed and why they produced long-term consequences for the welfare of the White Earth bands. The White Earth Tragedy also thrust "blood" into the centerpiece of debates about tribal enrollment and the issues of intermarriage and historical experiences of individuals of mixed descent.
