‎Wilhelm Wundt‎ ‎Elements of Folk Psychology : Outlines of a Psychological History of the Development of Mainkind Volume Vol. 2nd [Hardcover] Volume Vol. 2nd‎ ‎About The Author:- Wilhelm Wundt, is known as the Father of Experimental Psychology and Founder of modern Psychology, was born in 1832 in a small town in Baden, Germany. Having obtained a medical degree from the University of Heidelberg, he joined the same university as a lecturer in physiology. It was here that he published his work on the theory of sense perception and offered the first course even taught in scientific psychology. In 1873-74 he published the Principle of Physiological Psychology which advanced a new system of psychology and prescribed a new methodology for the examination of conscious experience. After he became a professor at the University of Leipzig, he established the first ever psychological laboratory in the world. His other outstanding works include the Outline of Psychology (1896) and Elements of Folk Psychology (1900-20). Wundt died in Grossbothen in Germany in 1920. Introduction by Dr. Sila Basa, Ph.D., D.Lit., FRAS (London). Born in Kolkata, India. 1947. working as an academic attached to the Department of Folklore and languages studies with various Universities. Set‎ ‎Elements of Folk Psychology (1900-1920) was the last work produced the Wilhelm Wundt. As the subtitle of the book emphasizes, it offers outlines of a psychological history of the development of mankind. It is a descriptive account of human development and deals at some length with the forms of original tribal organizations and of the consummation of marriage, with soul, demon and totem cults, and with various phenomena of somewhat primitive culture. On the other hand, it describes in barest outlines the social movements that reach over not the historical times, such as the founding of states and cities, the origin of legal systems, and the like. The study relies largely on Suppositions and hypotheses because facts at the author’s disposal did not allow him to point out various transitions with absolute certainty. Nevertheless, the conjectured process moves on the factual plane from the beginning to the end. Sehr guter Zustand. - Vorwort: Der Zusammenbruch der UdSSR zu Beginn der 1990er hat zu einer strategischen und politischen Entwicklung geführt, wie sie für Zentralasien gänzlich neu war. Bemerkenswert daran waren die innenpolitischen Entwicklungen, die mit zahlreichen politischen Verwerfungen einhergingen, aber auch die Versuche der unterschiedlichsten staatlichen und nicht-staatlichen player auf die Entwicklung in den neuen Staaten Einfluss zu nehmen. Dass hier neben internationalen und nationalen Kapitalgesellschaften auch Religionsgemeinschaften eine Rolle spielten, ist zunächst kaum beachtet worden. Neben den christlichen Missionsorganisationen verschiedenster Ausrichtung waren es auch muslimische Stiftungen. Die wachsende Bedeutung von islamischen Stiftungen ist von westlichen Beobachtern in den vergangenen Jahren verstärkt zur Kenntnis genommen worden. Dabei haben die Stiftungen vor allem aus der Golfregion besondere Aufmerksamkeit gefunden. Das liegt einerseits an den beträchtlichen Kapitalmitteln, über die dieses Organisationen verfügen und andererseits an den oft nicht ganz deutlich erkennbaren Programmen und Zielen, die die Stiftungen verfolgen. Vor allem nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September 2001 sind einige islamische Stiftungen in den Verdacht geraten, mit den ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden finanziellen Mitteln terroristische Aktivitäten zu unterstützen. Diese Verdächtigungen haben dazu geführt, dass die Stiftungen sich noch stärker zurückhalten, Einblick in ihre Tätigkeiten zu geben. Es lag also nahe, um genauere und verlässliche Kenntnisse über die islamischen Stiftungen zu erhalten ihre Aktivitäten zu untersuchen und weniger ihre Selbstdarstellungen zu analysieren. In der Darstellung von Dina Wilkowsky geschieht dies am Beispiel der Republik Kasachstan auf der Grundlage einer überragenden Kenntnis des Landes und der in ihm agierenden politischen Kräfte. Dank der sprachlichen Kompetenz der Autorin gelingt ihr auch der Zugang zu den relevanten arabischen Quellen. Sie kann daher sowohl die Formen der Einflussnahme der Stiftungen auf den islamischen Teil der kasachstanischen Gesellschaft darstellen, als auch die Motivationen der Stiftungen für ihr Engagement in Zentralasien herausarbeiten. Es gibt vor allem zwei Beweggründe, aus denen die islamischen Stiftungen vor allem aus der Golfregion, aber auch aus anderen arabischen Ländern sich in Kasachstan etabliert haben; beide Gründe hängen mit einander zusammen: Zunächst kamen die Stiftungen nach Zentralasien, weil ihnen bewusst war, dass die muslimische Bevölkerung im Verlauf der langen sowjetischen Herrschaft viel von ihrer muslimischen Identität und der Kenntnis der religiösen Praxis verloren hatten. Auch wenn die anti-religiöse Propaganda der Frühzeit der sowjetischen Herrschaft nach dem 2. Weltkrieg mehr oder weniger aufgegeben worden war und die Regierung Schon auf Grund der Zusammenarbeit mit islamischen Ländern dem Islam gegenüber zurückhaltender auftrat, konnte von einer Förderung doch nicht die Rede sein. Vor allem aber war der Kontakt zu den wichtigen Zentren islamischer Gelehrsamkeit erschwert, so dass die muslimischen Gelehrten in Zentralasien kaum die Möglichkeit hatten, die dogmatischen und theologischen Entwicklungen in den Kernländern des Islams kennen zu lernen. Die islamischen Stiftungen begannen also, durch Stipendien an arabische Universitäten Kader von jungen Muslimen aus Zentralasien zu entwickeln, die von ihrer religiösen Kompetenz her in der Klage waren, die islamische Bevölkerung ihrer Heimat mit neuen Entwicklungen in der islamischen Welt vertraut zu machen. Das traf nicht in allen Fällen auf Zustimmung durch die Regierungen. Des Weiteren finanzierten die Stiftungen in einigen zen- tralasiatischen Staaten islamische Zentren, die die Bevölkerung mit einer orthodoxen Form des Islams vertraut machen sollten. Auch hier kam es zu Spannungen mit den Regierungen. Der zweite Grund für die Aktivitäten war, dass die Stiftungen es als ihre Pflicht ansahen, die Muslime Zentralasiens gegen den Einfluss der christlichen Missionare zu wappnen, die nicht nur unter der religionslosen russischen Bevölkerung Einfluss zu gewinnen suchten, sondern sich auch an die muslimische Bevölkerung wandten. Es lag den Stiftungen daran, eine starke Resistenz gegen diese Versuche aufzubauen. Die vorliegende Untersuchung, die durch die VolkswagenStif-tung gefördert worden ist, bietet eine Vielzahl von Informationen, die in dieser Form bisher einer westlichen Leserschaft nicht zugänglich waren. Sie gibt einen paradigmatischen Einblick in die Aktivitäten islamischer Stiftungen in Zentralasien und die Reaktionen der politischen Eliten auf diese Bemühungen. William Graham Sumner was an American academic and professor at Yale College. For many years he had a reputation as one of the most influential teachers there. He was a polymath with numerous books and essays on American history economic history political theory sociology and anthropology. His popular essays gave him a wide audience for his laissez-faire: advocacy of free markets anti-imperialism and the gold standard. He was a president of American Sociological Association from 1908 to 1909. Born in Paterson New Jersey he graduated from Yale College in 1863 where he had been a member of Skull & Bones. Later he was appointed to the newly created Chair of Political and Social Science at Yale. As a sociologist his major accomplishments were developing the concepts of diffusion folkways and ethnocentrism. Sumner's work with folkways led him to conclude that attempts at government-mandated reform were useless. He was a staunch advocate of laissez-faire economics. Sumner was active in the intellectual promotion of free-trade classical liberalism and in his heyday and after there were Sumner Clubs here and there. He heavily criticized socialism/communism. One adversary he mentioned by name was Edward Bellamy whose national variant of socialism was set forth in Looking Backward 1888 and the sequel Equality. Like many classical liberals at the time including Edward Atkinson Moorfield Storey and Grover Cleveland Sumner opposed the Spanish American War and the subsequent U.S. effort to quell the insurgency in the Philippines. He was a vice president of the Anti-Imperialist League which had been formed after the war to oppose the annexation of territories. In his speech "The Conquest of the United States by Spain" he lambasted imperialism as a betrayal of the best traditions principles and interests of the American People and contrary to America's own founding as a state of equals where justice and law "were to reign in the midst of simplicity." According to Sumner imperialism would enthrone a new group of "plutocrats" or businesspeople who depended on government subsidies and contracts. In the 1870s Sumner was strongly influenced by the English evolutionary thinker Herbert Spencer; after 1885 or so Spencer's influence faded. Among Sumner's students were the anthropologist Albert Galloway Keller the economist Irving Fisher and the champion of an anthropological approach to economics Thorstein Bunde Veblen.
