Edition posthume, publiée par le fils de l'auteur, de ce recueil d'essais formant un "Théâtre des caractères humains" : sur la physiognomie, les "Sexus indiciis", l'influence des climats et des planètes sur les individus, également, sur la transmission par l'hérédité, etc. Ecrivain et humaniste hollandais, recteur du collège de Leeuwarden, l'auteur consacra une part importante de ses travaux aux sciences occultes. Deux tableaux gravés, un en fin de chaque volume, fournissent une vue synoptique du contenu. L'ouvrage fut mis à l'index en 1677. Provenance: Victor de Laprade (1812-1883) académicien (ex-libris armorié gravé) et "Domysti Anto. vienna catal. inscrip. 1731" (petite inscription). Coiffes usées, épidermures. Exemplaire solide, très bon état intérieur.

Alcune bibliografie riportano che la prima edizione venne stampata daVallardi nel 1863 ma in verità il primo volume di Ebhardt uscì dai torchi veneziani di Ebhardt già nel 1862. Edizione sconosciuta alle principali bibliografie mediche. Due sole copie censite in ICCU. Niemeyer, nato a Mgdeburgo nel 1820, fu uno dei più celebri medici del XIX° secolo. Laureatosi in fisica all'Università di Halle nel 1840, divenne nel 1855 professore di medicina interna all'Univeristà di Greifswald, per poi passare a Tubingia nel 1860. Niemeyer è ricordato in particolare oltre che per questa sua opera di patologia, anche per i suoi studi di dietetica. Fra i titoli dei capitoli: malattie degli organi della respirazione, malattie del fegato e delle vie biliari, malatie della milza, malattie dell'apparato uropojetico, malattie degli organi sessuali, malattie del sistema nervoso, malattie della pelle, malattie deli organi di locomozione, malattie costituzionali.PRIMA EDIZIONE ITALIANA.
