P. berühmt durch die Entdeckung des auch seinen Namen führenden 'Ductus thoracicus'." (Hirsch-Hüb.). - "... It was not until 1651 that Pecquet reported his discovery of the receptaculum chyli and thoracic duct in the present work. Pecquet, a native of Dieppe, was a graduate of Montpellier and a Paris physician. In the book he accurately described the lacteal veins of Aselli and showed that they terminate in the receptaculum chyli and that the thoracic duct joins the venous systems at the junction of the jugular and subclavian veins" (Heirs of Hippocrates). - "The quantity of Pecquet's scientific production is slight. He participated in experiments on the transfusion of blood performed in 1666/67 at the Académie des Sciences, as did his friend Gayant ... and Perrault. ... Pecquet's only important accomplishment was the discovery of the chyle reservoir, which he called the "Receptaculum chyli"." (DSB). - Der franz. Anatom J. Pecquet (1622-1674) gilt als Pionier der Physiologie. "Sein 1646 in Paris begonnenes Studium der Medizin setzte Pecquet 1651 in Montpellier fort, wo er 1652 promovierte wurde. Während seines Studiums, 1648, führte er die Obduktion eines lebenden Hundes durch, wobei er den Thorax öffnete. Dabei fiel ihm eine weiße, milchähnliche Flüssigkeit auf, von der er annahm, dass es sich um Lymphflüssigkeit handelte. Er stellte fest, dass die diesen "Milchsaft" leitenden Strukturen nicht in die Leber münden, sondern in der oberen Hohlvene und in einem Reservoir, der Lendenzisterne (im frankophonen Sprachraum Cisterna de Pecquet), hinter dem Magen enden. In Folge beschrieb er erstmals den von ihm entdeckten Ductus thoracicus und die Unterschiede von Vene und Lymphgefäß. Weiterhin formulierte er seine Theorien über die Blutaufnahme, Kapillarwirkung und Durchlässigkeit von Gefäßen. Die Forschungsergebnisse veröffentlichte er 1651 unter dem Titel Experimenta Nova Anatomica unter seinem wissenschaftlichen Pseudonym Joannis Pecqueti" (Wikipedia). - Zeitgenöss. Besitzvermerk a.
