In 2° (26,7X21 cm); XI, (1), 84 pp. e 2 c. di tav. ripieg. Legatura coeva in cartoncino molle. Stampato su carta forte. Belle le ultime due grandi tavole anatomiche con immagini di varie patologie. Sisco fu uno dei più importanti chirurghi italiani del XIX° secolo. Primo chirurgo del Papa, allorché Pio VII negli ultimi mesi del 1815 istituitì la clinica medica e chirurgica nell'ospedale di San Giacomo. Nel 1829 sarà il primo in Italia a far l'allacciamento della carotide primitiva. Dal 1816 al 1829 pubblicò i "Saggi dell'Istituto romano di Medicina esterna" di cui fa parte anche quest'opera. I "Saggi" erano praticamente i resconti dell'attività chirurgica del Sisco anno per anno. In essi l'autore prendeva in considerazione i casi più strani ed eclatanti affrontati, descrivendo i pazienti e le tecniche chirurgiche usate. In 8° (21,9x14 cm); 57, (1) pp. Bella brossura editoriale coeva in brossura gialla con titolo entro cornice xilografica al piatto anteriore (cornice che si presenta anche al piatto posteriore). Piccolissima mancanza al margine basso bianco del frontespizio e delle prime 6 carte, ininfluente anche perché la copia si presenta ad ampissimi margini e ancora intonsa. Rarissimo scritto, due soli esemplari censiti in ICCU, di questa memoria del noto medico originario di Bozzolo (Mantova), Carlo Speranza. L’autore (Bozzolo 1778 - Pavia 1867) fu a lungo professore presso l’ateneo di Parma, prima di patologia e clinica medica e poi di medicina legale. Tra le sue opere più significative vanno ricordate la Storia del morbillo epidemico di Mantova nel 1822 (1824) e l’opera Sulla dignità della medicina legale (1833). In questo scritto Speranza entra nel dibattito fra Fogli e Giambattista Spallanzani (originario dalla celebre famiglia degli Spallanzani di Scandiano) sulla validità delle teorie dell’Eccitabilità del noto medico scozzese Jhon Brown applicate alla patologia ed alle encefaliti. Prima rara edizione che a parte l’insignificante mancanza al margine basso delle prime carte in ottime condizioni di conservazione.
