(seconda edizione)
In 8° (19,5x12,5 cm); (4), 41, (3 b.) pp. Legatura coeva in cartoncino molle. Piccolo tunnel di tarlo alle prime due carte, altro più lungo nel margine bianco interno delle ultime 4 carte ma ambedue non fastidiosi. Stampato su carta azzurra. Il titolo parla di seconda edizione ma non siamo stati in grado di rintracciare notizie di un'edizione precedente. Dedicatoria a Luigi Brugnatelli dottore in Filosofia e Medicina, sostituto alle cattedre di Materia Medica e Chimica nella R. I. Università di Pavia. In fondo al volume in chiusura della lettera la data Gottinga 5 Decembre 1795. Una delle prime opere di questo autore. Interessante trattato sulla nuova nomenclatura medica del corpo umano scritta dal celeberrimo medico-patologo di Pavia Valeriano Luigi Brera. Laureatosi all'Università di Pavia nel 1793, si perfezionò in alcuni dei maggiori centri medici europei (Vienna; Lipsia; Londra), dove ebbe contatto con illustri Maestri come il Blumenbach, l'Osiander, il Monro. Tornato in Lombardia, fu professore supplente della cattedra di clinica medica dell'Università di Pavia nel 1797-1798 e, successivamente, primario medico negli ospedali di Pavia e di Crema. Nel 1806 fu nominato professore di medicina legale nell'Università di Bologna, dove creò il gabinetto di patologia e medicina legale. Nel 1808, dopo aver rifiutato l'offerta del Collegio Imperiale di Pietroburgo di succedere al J.P. Frank nella cattedra di clinica medica di quell'ateneo, divenne direttore della cattedra di Clinica e Patologia Medica dell'Università di Padova, succedendo a Pierantonio Bondioli. Mantenne questo incarico fino al 1832 e per alcuni anni fu anche direttore, dal 1817, dell'Ospedale di Padova. Il Brera è stato uno dei maggiori clinici italiani del primo '800, seguace del brownianesimo in patologia e in clinica. Clinico famoso, abile e ricercato, fu anche un acuto e geniale ricercatore scientifico, effettuando importanti studi sulle parassitosi da elminti.Diffuse l'uso dello jodio in terapia e introdusse l'uso di somministrare alcuni medicamenti sotto forma di frizioni. Sir William Henry Broadbent, 1st Baronet, KCVO, (1835?1907) was a leading British authority in the field of cardiology as well as neurology. He also performed research involving diseases such as tuberculosis and cancer. In 1876 he was the first to describe a type of stroke caused by a cerebral hemorrhage into the ventricular system, that was later to be named 'Broadbent apoplexy'. Formerly in the library of the Birmingham Medical Institute.
