In questo modo, anche i processi umani vengono rivisitati attraverso una chiave automatica e meccanica, in una riduzione dell'umano all'automatico. «Se è vero che in generale il fenomeno della macchina oggettiva sempre anche categorie proprie dell’autocomprensione umana, questo rispecchiamento, nell’ambito della modernità, diviene principio di un radicale autofraintendimento dell’uomo, che da luogo dei fini delle macchine, diviene egli stesso semplicemente una dinamica per niente finalizzata o finalizzata eteronomamente. L’autocomprensione macchinale dell’uomo, in altri termini, comporta l’alienazione degli scopi, ossia è immediatamente riduzione dell’umano all’automatico nell’accezione negativa del termine, una riduzione che non può rendere conto del senso, della volontà e della ragione, se non riducendoli a perturbabilità, condizionamento e conformazione determinata del meccanismo. E questo sviluppo, che culmina con l’affermazione in linea di principio e in linea di fatto dello homo ex machina, ha alla sua origine precisamente la cancellazione del dato di fatto elementare della machina ex homo».
