That's not quite true.The book called 'Automated Alice' was actually written by Lewis Carroll.Lewis Carroll was the nom de plume of Charles Dodgson.<br />Nothat's not even slightly true either.<br />'Automated Alice' was in reality written by Zenith O'Clockthe writer of wrongs.In the book he sends Alice through a clock's workings.She travels through timetumbling from the Victorian ageto land in 1998in Manchestera small town in the North of England.<br />Oh dearthat's not at all right.This book was actually written by Jeff Noon.Zenith O'Clock is only a character invented by Jeff Noon and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely accidental. What Alice encounters in the automated future is mostly accidental too: mutant hybridssinister game- playchaos theorya roboAlicequantum physicscomputermitesjigsaw killerstickling Vurt featherspuzzle poems and secret messages and an invisible cat called Quark.<br />Jeff Noon takes on the mantelpiece of Lewis Carrollbringing Alice thoroughly up to date.Not so much a sequel to 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'more of a trequelthe third book in a series of misadventures even weirder than your dreams.
