Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with a few small closed tears. Sexual Behavior in the Human Female was originally published in 1953 five years after the male volume. The material presented in this book was derived from personal interviews with nearly 6000 women; from studies in sexual anatomy physiology psychology and endocrinology. The book presents data on the incidence and frequency with which women participate in various types of sexual activity. The authors show how such factors as age decade of birth and religious adherence are reflected in patterns of sexual behavior. Some measure of the social significance of the various types of sexual behavior is provided. The authors make comparisons of female and male sexual activities and investigate the factors which account for the similarities and differences between female and male patterns of behavior. As before Kinsey documented an enormous gap between social attitudes and actual practices. Also as before the book was a media sensation but this time the counterattack was so ferocious including a congressional investigation of his financial support that the Rockefeller Foundation terminated its funding. Kinsey's health deteriorated under the strain of public attack and uncertainty about the future of his institute. He suffered from heart disease and after a brief hospitalization for pneumonia died in Bloomington on August 25 1956. In his own mind his principal legacy was to have brought scientific rigor to the study of human sexuality. But as his biographer James H. Jones points out Kinsey was not only a scientist; he was a reformer who sought to rid himself of his personal sexual demons while at the same time revolutionizing the repressive society in which he had grown up. All are captioned in the negative identifying Kinsey as the photographer. Clark Kinsey and his brother Darius 1869-1945 were two of the most important photographers documenting the logging and timber industries of the Pacific Northwest. Kinsey photographed the timber industry in the Pacific Northwest for thirty years from World War I until his retirement in 1945. <br /> <br />The images here record not only the equipment & activity of the logging industry but also of the timber cutters themselves capturing their postures and expressions posed amongst the logs and machinery of their trade. Signed Binding by Brentanos New York in late 19th or early 20th century full dark green buckram with scrollwork decoration blindstamped in both boards with gilt borders. 5 raised bands and 6 compartments all with gilt borders. Titles stamped in gold in C2 date in C6. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Square tight and very clean pages with little or no foxing throughout. A spot here or there and a bit on the boarders of only some of the plates but not affecting the plates themselves. Truly a remarkably well-preserved interior for almost 200 years old. Fairly mild edge-wear particularly on the bottom edge and tips. A hint of rubbing to hinges but quite minor. Spine toned to almost black but supple and fresh. Il s’agit peut-être de l’ouvrage qui, dans l’histoire récente, a eu la plus grande influence sur notre mode de vie. Les thèses qui y sont développées sont, de nos jours encore, sujettes à de vives polémiques dans tout le monde occidental.
