Brèche dans la toute-puissance de la représentation, elle résiste à la personne qui risque de s'enfermer dans l'image qu'elle se fait d'elle-même. Ultimement, elle s'ordonne à la communion des personnes, qui s'origine - d'après une vision chrétienne - dans le mystère d'une insondable communion trinitaire. La tradition personnaliste judéo-chrétienne, parfois encore accusée de cultiver une mentalité naturaliste, un patriarcat machiste et misogyne, un mépris du corps et de la sexualité, fournit en réalité, au prix d'un exposé ajusté et d'un accueil renouvelé, des clés fondamentales qui éclairent puissamment l'énigme de l'altérité des sexes.
