La meilleure édition de ce classique, illustrée de 101 gravures hors-texte, dont 2 dépliantes. Composé par un jésuite partisan de Descartes, cet ouvrage didactique contribua à propager en France le goût de la physique. Exemplaire bien complet du cinquième volume "sur les découvertes récentes et pour servir de supplément" aux éditions précédentes. Ensemble très bien conservé dans une agréable reliure de l'époque. Chaque volume porte l'ex-libris manuscrit d'un carme d'Angers.
