Nel gruppo dolomitico delle Alpi del Brenta, alcuni geologi chiusi nel rifugio “Giovanni Segantini” ad oltre 2700 metri d'altezza, udendo dei rumori sospetti provenienti dall'esterno, affacciatisi ad una finestrella, scorgevano un orso bruno che, ritto sulle zampe posteriori, graffiava la porta e lo cacciavano via a stento scagliandogli dei pezzi di legno.

Murray. James Hutton avait publié son grand ouvrage "Theory of the Earth, with proofs and illustrations" en 1795 ; l'un des pères de la géologie moderne, partisan du plutonisme, il montra notamment l'origine intrusive du granite. Les explications claires de son disciple John Playfair et son ouvrage, soutenu par Charles Lyell (l'ami de Charles Darwin) jouèrent un grand rôle dans la diffusion de ses idées. John Murray (1778-1820) expose dans son ouvrage les systèmes Huttoniens et Neptuniens, sur la formation des roches, et conclut en faveur de cette dernière. Etat satisfaisant (manque le premier plat, cachet à froid d'ex-libris, fente en dos) pour cet exemplaire peu commun méritant d'être établi dans une reliure de qualité. Français
