Tutta tela editoriale con la rarissima sovraccoperta fotografica, estremamente difficile da reperirsi, probabilmente per la frase a firma Mussolini che campoeggia al piatto anteriore e che potrebbe aver indotto molti possessori a eliminarla. Curiosa la figura di Alberto MAria De Agostini, sacerdote salesiano e missionario in Terra del Fuoco, uni' alla sua attivita' pastorale anche quella di esploratore, alpinista e naturalista. Sali' infatti il Monte S. lorenzo nel 1943 e organizzo' varie spedizioni con Carlo Mauri e Monzino. Importanti furono anche le sue ricerche cartografiche e naturalistiche.

This is the original 1925 first edition -- NOT print on demand or modern reprint. Cover is in Good condition only with chips and wear along the spine and edges. Rear wrap is nearly separated but barely hanging on. Internal condition is Very Good. Illustrated with portraits and several maps -- most folding and an extra large folding map at the end. Bound in the original tan wraps stamped in black. From the DeGolyer MacNaughton website: "Lewis MacNaughton was an extraordinarily talented geologist who like Everette Lee DeGolyer had also gained solid work experience overseas prior to obtaining his college degree. In 1928 DeGolyer the then-president of Amerada Petroleum Corporation hired the scholarly methodical MacNaughton. Upon DeGolyers retirement in 1932 at the young age of 46 financial institutions and oil companies continued to call DeGolyer ceaselessly seeking advice based on his scientific professionalism and non-provincial perspective. Faced with the inevitability of an increasing demand for reliable realistic consultation DeGolyer prevailed upon MacNaughton to join him in the first petroleum consulting organization to provide services on an international scope. II est tres regrettable toutefois que ces ouvrages ne soient pas mieux connus du public amiricain.
