Edinburgh: W H Lizars 1834 A fair copy of the 1st edition in the original publisher's cloth binding with 30 hand coloured plates of game birds. With half title; black and white frontispiece portrait of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles; hand coloured vignette title page with red grouse; 2 further title pages; advert; contents listing; Memoir of Raffles; text with 30 hand coloured plates; and publisher's catalogue bound at the rear. The binding is in very good condition with bright gilt title label and only slight sunning to the spine and a couple of very faint small marks to the back board. The original endpapers are present. The contents are generally clean but the stitching is beginning to fail so the book is currently sound but some sections are wobbly and it will require repair at some point. There is no tissue-guard between the frontispiece and the vignette title page so there is some spotting to both. Otherwise plates are clean and text is generally clean with some toning to edges and the occasional light mark. W H Lizars hardcover

The binding is very clean. It has slight fading to the spine and very slight bumping to corners. The original endpapers are present. The contents are very clean and bright with lwell- coloured plates. There is some light spotting to frontispiece and vignette title page and some offsetting from the plates to the tissue-guards.
