E nello show dei record, quello a Modena Park il 1° luglio 2017, la sua chitarra, la mitica Gibson SG che Massimo acquistò a rate da Maurizio Solieri e che ha usato in tutti i suoi concerti e nei dischi, è stata suonata su quel palco, quasi a testimoniare una sorta di presenza «fisica» di quello scricciolo dotato di un'energia pazzesca che se ne era andato a soli 36 anni. 36 anni, però, vissuti «al massimo». Magro come un chiodo, i capelli lunghi, le magliette strappate, lo sguardo spiritato, quel sorriso beffardo, birra in mano e sigaretta tra le labbra. Massimo era fatto così, si divertiva a provocare. E pazienza se ogni tanto ne combinava una un po' più grossa del solito e Vasco lo «licenziava». Tanto sapeva che per lui era come un figlio e presto o tardi l'avrebbe perdonato. Tentò pure l'avventura solista, prima con la Steve Rogers Band, poi da solo. E in questa fase ci sono collaborazioni con Enrico Ruggeri, Elio e le Storie Tese, Sabrina Salerno: nel libro ci sono anche le loro testimonianze. Così come ci sono, ovviamente, quelle di tutti i musicisti che hanno collaborato con lui e di chi lo ha conosciuto bene. Questa biografia racconta una storia senza veli. Perché se fosse stato lui a scrivere queste pagine, le avrebbe volute esattamente così. Schiette, palpitanti, sincere, emozionanti, intrise del rock che amava.
