Titoli in rosso e nero (eccetto III vol.) con vignette in xilogr., testatine, finalini e iniziali ornate. Esemplare a pieni margini. Con una grande pianta topografica ripiegata del territorio veronese e 25 tavole botaniche incise in rame f.t. (n. I-XVII nei vol. I e II; e I-VIII nel vol. II). Jean-François Séguier (Nîmes 1703 - 1784) fu naturalista e studioso francese. Appassionato di botanica fin dall'infanzia, assecondando i desideri del padre si dedicò al diritto e divenne magistrato nella città natale. La sua vita cambiò nel 1732, quando il marchese Scipione Maffei, studioso veronese giunto a Nîmes per studiare i monumenti di epoca romana, rimase tanto colpito dall'intelligenza del giovane che gli faceva da cicerone che gli propose di seguirlo nel suo viaggio attraverso l'Europa. Quindi Maffei fece ritorno a Verona con il suo ormai inseparabile amico, Séguier per più di vent'anni esplorò la pianura, le colline e prealpi venete, raccogliendo piante e minerali, ma anche i fossili di Bolca, che studiò a lungo. Fu durante il soggiorno veronese che Séguier pubblicò le opere che lo resero celebre ai suoi contemporanei: ''Bibliotheca botanica'' (1740) ed i presenti tre volumi di ''Plantae Veronenses''.
