Bibliographic note: Due to the scarcity of this title little is known of it; Nissen does not mention it and it is not on Copac; only one copy is recorded in world libraries and that at the University of Wisconsin Madison. As the title implies it appears to be a compendium and some of the plates appear ostensibly the same as those that appeared in Edwards botanical register and probably other works too. But the titles on the plates are new and inexplicably they are numbered 105 to 148 with the forntispiece numbered "1". "Sarah Ann Drake 1803-1857. In 1830 moved into the Lindley home at Acton Green in London. She appears to have had a number of roles in the Lindley home including that of governess but eventually she took up botanical art gradually taking over from Lindley the illustration of his botanical publications. She created illustrations for his Sertum Orchidaceae for example as well as over 1000 illustrations for the horticultural magazine Edwards's Botanical Register which Lindley edited from 1829 to 1847".
