Auteur de nombreuses brochures dont l'une, "Instruction sur les soins à donner aux chevaux, 1794", est diffusée par ordre du Comité de salut public à plus de 60 000 exemplaires. Épouse, en 1792, Marie-Rosalie Vallat-La-Chapelle, imprimeur-libraire spécialisé en agriculture. Possède une bibliothèque de quelque 40.000 volumes.
