A very good short run of four volumes spanning the period 1822-1825 textblock with good margins and 334 bright hand-coloured engraved plates of which 49 are folding. Three volumes uniformly bound in contemporary half green calf with gilt lettering to spines marbled boards faded to brown on the spines which are a little worn and rubbed but all remain good and strong discreet professional repair to the front joint of volume 52. Volume 49 of the same contemporary binding but with recent new green morocco spine. All edges of the four volumes are richly gilt. The volumes include the following plate numbers: v. 49 2273-2355; v. 50 2356-2440; v. 51 2441-2522; v. 52 2523-2606. Title pages to vols 49 & 51only indexes to vols 49 50 & 51only. As stated good margins - leaf size 145 x 235 mm. Contents good and tight oringal pale yellow endpapers new endpapers to vol. 49 to match a few pages with light foxing/spotting generally clean plates generally very clean and bright the odd spot to a few plates. No inscriptions. The majority of plates are after J. Curtis but with a few contributed by W. Herbert Sowerby Edwards and F. All uniformly bound in contemporary half tan calf with gilt-decorated raised bands and contrasting gilt-lettered labels over marbled boards. 1794 1795 1801 1806 1807 1821 1824 and 1825; vols. 7 & 8 bound together vols. 15 & 16 bound together vols. 23 & 24 bound together vols. 25 & 26 bound together vols 48 51 & 52 bound in separate volumes. The volumes include the following plate numbers: v. 7 217-252; v. 8 253-288; v. 15 505-548; v. 16 549-596; v. 23 881-923; v. 24 923 - 966; v. 25 967-1013; v. 26 1014-1059; v. 48 2189-2272; v. 51 2441-2522; v. 52 2523-2606. Each part with separate index; the volumes containing two parts of the work have not had the second title page bound in. As stated good margins - leaf size 144 x 236 mm for instance instruction for cancelled leafs printed in the upper margin are retained e.g. p. for plate 532. Binding very good with light rubbing and wear only. Contents clean and tight plates generally very clean and bright. Original end-papers no inscriptions.
