Il appartient à ce qui sera la première génération des vulgarisateurs de presse et d'édition. Il écrit des monographies sur une grande variété de sujets et des vulgarisations pour des collections et des journaux tels que : Le Nouveau journal des connaissances utiles ; Le Magasin pittoresque ; Le Musée des familles ; Le Correspondant ; La Vie pratique ; L’Avenir national ; Le Progrès de Lyon. Il est rédacteur de la revue scientifique du Journal des Économistes et il écrit des articles sur la chimie dans le Dictionnaire du commerce et de la navigation. Après 1871, il écrit les comptes-rendus des séances de l'Académie des sciences morales dans le Journal officiel. Il travaille intensivement avec la maison d'édition Alfred Mame à Tours. Scarce book about a dog part Irish Terrier in the text but all Irish Terrier in Brown's drawings who worked his way into the affection of an army company during World War I. No dogs are supposed to be on the transport but Mike manages to be on it when it reaches France. Both author and illustrator were with the AEF. Petit in-4, peau de mouton retournée, dessins représentant des clowns collés sur les deux faces, non rogné. (Relié vers 1930). "Page de titre dactylographiée et 19 feuillets portant 21 dessins originaux à la mine de plomb ou à la plume, rehaussés d’aquarelle. Chacun porte la signature ou le monogramme de l’artiste. Ces belles études d’après nature ont été dessinées au Cirque Médrano vers les années 1925 . La mention Cirque Médrano manuscrite est répétée sur cinq dessins. L’un d’eux porte la date 1926. Clowns, cavaliers, écuyères, chevaux, Monsieur Loyal, etc. Gustave Assire, né à Angers en 1870 fut ; à l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, l’élève de J.P. Laurens, Cormon et Gustave Moreau. Il exposa aux Artistes Français depuis 1900 et au Salon des Indépendants de 1927 à 1931. Il a illustré un certain nombre d’ouvrages dont : Mac Orlan. Images secrètes de Paris en 1930. Il disparut en 1941. Mors fendus, reliure un peu épidermée."
