Prima rara edizione di questa pubblicazione di botanica e entomologa dedicata allo sviluppo della larva dell'Agrotis Signifera Ochsem nel territorio di Bondeno nel 1872. Opuscolo molto raro ed in perfette condizioni di conservazione. Prima edizione molto rara, nessun esemplare censito in ICCU.

Onorio Belle, insigne medico vicentino, si recò a Creta nel 1583 e vi restò per 16 anni, accompagnando l'esercizio della sua professione sia allo studio della flora del luogo e dei suoi più interessanti aspetti naturalistici, sia all'esame appassionato e minuzioso degli avanzi archeologici che quella terra offriva con tanta dovizia. Il contributo scientifico del B. consiste soprattutto nella descrizione di numerose piante nuove, 71 specie secondo i computi del Baldacci e del Saccardo (Treccani.it), fondamentale nel periodo di formazione della moderna Sistematica. Il presente volume offre il manoscritto inedito in tavv. a colori, con premessa, trascrizione e commento, ed 8 tavv. a colori con specie botaniche scelte tra i disegni che il pittore tedesco Georg Dickmann fece per il botanico Giuseppe Casabona del Granducato di Toscana, in missione a Creta dal 1590 al 1591, in mancanza dei disegni del Belli, di cui si ha notizia ma che non sono ancora emersi dalle biblioteche. 012/27

Le 367 tavole finemente incise in rame, di formato in-folio, contengono oltre 1000 diversi fiori rappresentanti 667 specie differenti. Basilius Besler era farmacista e botanico; le opere raffigurano il meraviglioso giardino del Cardinale Konrad von Gemmingen, che commissionò l’opera a Besler proprio per illustrare il giardino che circondava il suo castello. Incisione in rame, finemente colorata a mano, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Etching with later hand colour. Folio prints listed from a special edition of the work entitled Hortus Eystettensis: the Bishop's Garden by Basilius Besler, a pharmacist and botanist, published in 1613. A team of at least ten engravers worked under Besler on this massive project for 16 years, translating in situ and specimen drawings faithfully to copperplates.
