In 4° grande; due tomi: (4), XXVIII, 387, (1) pp. e 3 grandi c. di tav. fuori teso più volte ripiegate e XVI, 288 pp. e 4 grandi c. di tav. fuori testo più volte ripiegate. Belle legature della prima metà del XX° secolo in mezza pelle verde con titolo impresso in oro al dorso e piatti foderati con carta a motivi floreali blu e rossi. Qualche lieve strofinatura ai dorsi. All'interno esemplare stampato su carta forte, in barbe ad ampi margini ed in ottime condizioni di conservazione. Le bellissime e grandi tavole fuori testo sono realizzate dal noto disegnatore Giuseppe Lanfranchi e dall'incisore Faustino Anderloni. Bellissima la grande tavola con l'illustrazione di una Digitalis Purpurea (Digitale Epiglottide) pianta erbacea della famiglia delle Scrophulariaceae, utilizzata nei casi di scompenso cardiaco e che Brera fu il primo ad importare ed utilizzare in Italia. Prima rara edizione di questo celebre trattato del grande medico e patologo patavino, Luigi Valeriano Brera. L'opera oltre ad illustrare le teorie medico-scientifiche di Brera attraverso la descrizione di vari casi seguiti personalmente dall'autore nel territorio di Pavia, contiene numerosissime ricette farmaceutiche e di erboristeria. L'autore, laureatosi all'Università di Pavia nel 1793, si perfezionò in alcuni dei maggiori centri medici europei (Vienna; Lipsia; Londra), dove ebbe contatto con illustri Maestri come il Blumenbach, l'Osiander, il Monro. Tornato in Lombardia, fu professore supplente della cattedra di clinica medica dell'Università di Pavia nel 1797-1798 e, successivamente, primario medico negli ospedali di Pavia e di Crema. Nel 1806 fu nominato professore di medicina legale nell'Università di Bologna, dove creò il gabinetto di patologia e medicina legale. Nel 1808, dopo aver rifiutato l'offerta del Collegio Imperiale di Pietroburgo di succedere al J.P. Frank nella cattedra di clinica medica di quell'ateneo, divenne direttore della cattedra di Clinica e Patologia Medica dell'Università di Padova, succedendo a Pierantonio Bondioli. Mantenne questo incarico fino al 1832 e fu anche direttore, dal 1817 al 1822, dell'Ospedale di Padova. Il Brera è stato uno dei maggiori clinici italiani del primo '800, seguace del brownianesimo in patologia e in clinica. Clinico famoso, abile e ricercato, fu anche un acuto e geniale ricercatore scientifico, effettuando importanti studi sulle parassitosi da elminti. Diffuse l'uso dello jodio in terapia e introdusse l'uso di somministrare alcuni medicamenti sotto forma di frizioni. Dal 1808 fu socio dell'Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze e delle maggiori accademie scientifiche dell'epoca. Ottimo esemplare in prima edizione di opera non comune.

Il corpus dell'opera, in 26 volumi ed impresso tra il 1927 ed il 1933, comprende 1250 tavole, cui si aggiunge il primo supplemento (edito nel 1941 e diviso in tre volumi) con 73 tavole ed il secondo supplemento edito nel 1960 con 48 tavole. Entro cartelle editoriali in mezza tela con titoli a piatti e dorsi, a fogli sciolti. Esemplare ben conservato solo con qualche minima arrossatura e poche tracce d'uso alle cartelle, Edizione originale, rara e ricercata di quest'opera la cui validità scientifica ha coniato definizioni quali: "L'Iconographia Micologica, un pilastro che ancor oggi puntella l'incerto mondo della sistematica micologica". Oltre all'importanza si sottolineano le difficoltà che quest'impresa editoriale dovette superare per poter vedere la luce. Il Bresadola infatti rischiò di cedere i diritti di stampa ad editori stranieri, i quali si dimostravano più generosi nell'acqusito delle preziose tavole micologiche. Solo grazie al paziente lavoro di convincimento di un gruppo di studiosi, si riuscì a mantenere l'opera entro i confini italiani. Questi furono inoltre i curatori, nelle persone di: G.B. Traverso, L. Ventisei volumi in 28 parti di cm. 24,5. Ritratto di Bresadola all'antiporta del primo volume ed oltre 1250 tavole a colori, ciascuna accompagnata da una carta di testo esplicativa. E' presente l'intero corpus dell'opera, in 26 volumi ed impresso tra il 1927 ed il 1933. Entro cartelle editoriali in mezza tela con titoli a piatti e dorsi, a fogli sciolti.
