In 4° (275x225). Pagg. (8), 73, (5). Frontespizio in rosso e nero, capolettera e fregi silografici. XI tavv. f.t. incise finemente in rame su carta forte a colori d'epoca, raffiguranti soggetti di piante marine, coralli, madrepore.<BR>Piena pelle marmorizzata coeva con dorso a nervi, scomparti e fregi dorati. Traccia di tassello e titolo; etichetta alla cuffia sup. in carta antica, sguardie marmorizzate, tagli in rosso. <BR>Bella ed importante prima edizione francese stampata da Pierre De Hondt, rarissima da trovarsi colorata d'epoca come nel nostro esemplare. L'autore (1713 - 1763) fu medico e naturalista, formò i propri studi a Padova, viaggiò molto in Italia e in oriente. Quest'opera fu il frutto editoriale delle sue ricerche, in quanto di tutte le sue accurate osservazioni, riuscì a pubblicare solo quelle eseguite sul Mare Adriatico. Ottimo esemplare marginoso. Nota manoscritta alla sguardia iniziale. Minime mende alle cerniere; traccia di tarlo che non lede il testo solo alle ultime 2 carte n.n.<BR>Pritzel 2370; B.M.C. 472; "importante per la nomenclatura" (Stafleu & Cowan). <BR>
