Assarino, 1602-1972, fu uno scrittore genovese, probabilmente nato a Potosì in Bolivia, che condusse una vita turbolenta come informatore politico, con diversi trascorsi in prigione. Ha compilato Il Sincero, il primo giornale italiano, e opere storiche, come Delle rivoluzioni di Catalogna (1644) e Delle Guerre e Successi d'Italia (1662). I suoi romanzi di grande successo includevano La Stratonica (1635), che fu tradotta in francese, inglese e tedesco e L'Almerinda (1640), successivamente ampliato e completamente rielaborato in I Giuochi di Fortuna (1655). Assarino, 1602-1972, was a Genoese writer, probably born in Potosì in Bolivia, who led a turbulent life as a political informant, with several spent in prison. He compiled Il Sincero, the first Italian newspaper, and historical works, such as Delle revuzioni di Catalogna (1644) and Delle Guerre e Successi d'Italia (1662). His highly successful novels included La Stratonica (1635), which was translated into French, English and German, and L'Almerinda (1640), expanded and completely reworked in I Giuochi di Fortuna (1655).
