‎This long, comprehensive work on pharmacology was widely used by Lieutaud’s contemporaries. In it he recommended the use of simple, or "Galenic" medicines, of which the effects are well known, and denounced the polypharmacy of the Arabs and the pyrotechnical remedies that had been fashionable in the preceding century. In the 1st volume the author teaches about internal medicines, the 2nd volume covers external medicines, general as well as food and drink. This pharmacological work is the translation into French of part 2 of Lieutaud's «Synopsis universae praxeos medicae», revised and updated by the author. Jean-Baptiste Sénac nach Versailles und wurde Leibarzt der Kinder von Ludwig XV. und später erster Leibarzt von Ludwig XVI. Er war Präsident der Société royale de médecine und der medizinischen Fakultät von Paris. Lieutaud war einer der Autoren der Encyclopédie d?Yverdon. Er war einer der Ersten, der den Begriff Hysterie verwendete. 1735 wurde er korrespondierendes Mitglied der Académie des Sciences (ab 1751 adjungierter Anatom und ab 1759 assoziierter Anatom). 1739 wurde er auswärtiges Mitglied der Royal Society.
