All'interno le pagine si presentano in discrete condizioni con rare fioriture. Gore d'umidità e mende. Nice little volume of 1908 about the masterpieces by the spanish painter Diego Velazquez (1599-1660). Velazquez was the most important artist in the court of Felipe IV in baroque period. Inside there are 64 photographic planches of the paintings of Diego Velazquez and at the end list of the photographies of paintings with relating size and sell price and place of provenance of the work (museum and private collections). In good conditions. Parchment editorial cover in good general conditions slightly worn in the edges and spine. Binding in good conditions. Inside pages are in fair conditions with occasional foxings. Usage signs and humidity stains.

English translation from the original Spanish of Velasquez' supposed memoir actually a concoction dreamed up to draw attention to the two small mixed-blood children which were hauled about and displayed in America and on the continent. The children described as "Descendants and Specimens of the Sacerdotal Cast of the Ancient Aztecs" were in reality of mixed Indian Spanish and Negro blood and were enslaved near San Miguel. "It is the most circumstantial fiction which the brain of an advertising agent ever conceived" - Field. In Diego Velázquez's Early Paintings and the Culture of Seventeenth-Century Seville Tanya J. Tiffany demonstrates that Velázquez's works not only engaged Seville's social practices but also raised issues of vital importance to seventeenth-century Sevillians. As a young artist Velázquez contended with such essential questions as women's place in society the nature of artistic creativity the role of religion in everyday life and the incorporation of racial minorities into Christianity.
