"In the spring of 1863, the landscape-painter Albert Bierstadt began his second tour across the Rocky Mountains with his friend, the American writer Fitz.The story says that during their expedition, the painter was taken aback by the view of an enormous mountain. Immediately, he made a sketch where a dark grey storm crosses an imaginary horizon of gigantic peaks blown out of proportion. Bierstadt titled his painting ‘A storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mount Rosalie', in honor of his traveling companion's wife. The work was interpreted as a representation of his emotional anguish and the mountain, unnamed until that date, was named Mount Rosalie, in honor of the woman that Bierstadt secretly loved.Most critics thought Mount Rosalie was impossibly high. The painting and Bierstadt's work seem to talk about desire, but always through the excess and transgression of a reality that only seemed suggestive for the artist when magnified by his imagination. His idea of beauty oscillated between the sublime exaltation of his emotions and the calculated effectiveness of the forms. In light of these contradictory notions, is it not both an audacity and a frustration to try to reach a summit? Nevertheless, the purpose of naming a mountain is an act charged with poetry. It tells us about the desire of possession and permanency. It reminds us, through creation, of the memory of those we have loved." "Nella primavera del 1863, il paesaggista Albert Bierstadt iniziò il suo secondo viaggio attraverso le Montagne Rocciose con il suo amico, lo scrittore americano Fitz.La storia racconta che durante la loro spedizione, il pittore fu sorpreso dalla vista di un'enorme montagna. Immediatamente, fece uno schizzo in cui una tempesta grigio scuro attraversa un orizzonte immaginario di cime gigantesche gonfiate a dismisura. ‎Photographie en pied de Alphonse de Lamartine à l'albumine au format carte de visite, réalisé par Adolphe Alexandre Martin. Photographie montée sur carton au nom de A. Martin. Publicité du photographe au dos. Belle épreuve. Cette séance de pose chez Martin fournit plusieurs photographies de l'écrivain, à la pose légèrement différente. On trouve cette même photographie au musée Lamartine, l'écrivain dans une pose différente, assis sur le fauteuil que l'on voit en arrière plan, avec un plaid sur les genoux ; le musée d'orsay en possède une, l'écrivain toujours assis, mais sans le plaid. Cette séance de poses est la dernière de Lamartine, elle le montre peu avant son décès. Par ailleurs on ne connait pas exactement la date de la séance chez Martin. Les différentes épreuves que nous avons rencontrées dans des poses différentes possèdent la même adresse au dos : rue Nve Saint Augustin. Adolphe Alexandre Martin fut un pionnier de la photographie, il est l'inventeur du ferrotype en 1853, remplaçant les plaques de verre par des plaques de fer recouvertes d'un vernis au collodion. - Photographies et détails sur www.Edition-Originale.com -‎

‎Superbe portrait photographique original de Ravachol réalisé par Alphonse Bertillon, tirage d'époque albuminé contrecollé sur bristol. Rarissime légende autographe signée du plus célèbre des anarchistes français, rédigée de son écriture hésitante et naïve, au bas du cliché: «1er mai 1892 Koningstein [sic] Ravachol.» La graphie Koningstein choisie par Ravachol diffère du patronyme de son père (Königstein). Cette variation attestée par le Maintron (Dictionnaire biographique du mouvement social et ouvrier) se retrouve notamment dans un écrit de sa main daté du 13 avril 1892 et conservé à la Conciergerie. «Un certain Varinard des Cotes a tracé son portrait graphologique. Il crut pouvoir noter l'absence d'orgueil et de vanité, la droiture et la loyauté des convictions». (Ramonet et Chao, Guide du Paris rebelle, 2008). Nous n'avons pu trouver aucun autre exemplaire de cette photographie dans les collections publiques internationales ni en vente aux enchères. Les autographes du «Christ de l'anarchie» sont d'une insigne rareté. Nous ne connaissons que cette unique photographie de Ravachol dédicacée à l'exception de celle mentionnée dans les rapports de surveillance de la Conciergerie: «Le nommé Ravachol nous a fait voir sa photographie sur le recto de laquelle il a inscrit ces mots: «à tous ceux que j'ai aimé. Mon cur sera toujours près de vous, ma dernière pensée sera pour vous. Tous mes baisers». Signé Ravachol. Il a l'intention d'envoyer cette photographie à son frère, ainsi qu'une lettre dont le résumé est le suivant: «Comme vous le voyez, je suis souriant sur ma photographie, vous pourrez donc en déduire que mon sort n'est pas si triste que vous le pensez. Il ne me manque qu'une chose: la liberté. Du reste je ne fais aucune différence entre ma vie en prison et celle que je menais auparavant. Toutes les deux ne sont que souffrance. Le vrai bonheur n'existera pour moi que lorsque je verrai la réalisation de mes projets, si cela ne se peut, je préfère la mort. J'envisage ces deux points le sourire aux lèvres». (8 mai 1892) Nous n'avons pu localiser ce cliché et n'en avons trouvé aucune autre trace depuis ce rapport. Nous n'avons d'ailleurs aucune certitude que cette photographie existe encore. à l'instar de la nôtre, elle a été réalisée lors d'une séance à la prison de la Conciergerie le 6 mai 1892 durant laquelle plusieurs poses ont été tirées. Ravachol a donc antidaté sa dédicace en se servant probablement de la date symbolique du 1er mai 1892, premier anniversaire du massacre de Fourmies. Il est certainement fait mention de notre cliché dans les mémoires du photographe et père de l'anthropométrie Alphonse Bertillon: «Ce fut l'identification de l'anarchiste Ravachol qui consacra la sûreté de sa méthode. Ravachol avait fait sauter au moyen d'une bombe l'immeuble où habitait alors le procureur de la République ainsi que le restaurant Véry et menaçait de continuer cette besogne de destruction quand il fut arrêté au milieu d'une foule hurlante qui voulait le mettre en pièces, au point qu'il arriva au service anthropométrique avec un visage boursouflé, tuméfié, hideux. Il fallut toute la diplomatie, toute la pénétration psychologique d'Alphonse Bertillon pour le convaincre de se laisser mensurer et photographier. Ravachol exprima le désir, vu l'état effrayant de son visage, d'être photographié une seconde fois dès que ses plaies et ses ecchymoses seraient guéries. Bertillon le lui promit et tint parole, il poussa même la délicatesse vis-à-vis de ce bandit jusqu'à lui porter dans la cellule qu'il occupait au dépôt un exemplaire de son portrait collé sur bristol. Et Ravachol qui ne pouvait en croire ses yeux, de s'écrier: vous êtes un honnête homme, vous au moins, monsieur Bertillon.» (Suzanne Bertillon, Vie d'Alphonse Bertillon l'inventeur de l'anthropométrie, 1941). ‎Deutscher Alpen-Kalender 1938.‎

‎Berlin., Ludwig Simon., (1937). (ca. 22,5 x 18,5 cm). ca. 54 Blätter. Original-Kalender mit einseitig bedruckten Blättern zum Abreißen, mit montiertem Band zum Aufhängen. Kalender unbenutzt und vollständig erhalten, keine Eintragungen oder abgerissene Blätter. Deckel etwas berieben, Ecken leicht bestoßen. Insgesamt guter Zustand.‎

‎Wandkalender für das Jahr 1938, auf grauen Karton montiert. Der Kalender besitzt ein vormontiertes rotes Band zum Aufhängen. Kalender besitzt für jede einzelne Woche ein Blatt, für den gesamten Monat also bis zu fünf Kalenderblätter. Auf jedem Blatt befindet sich eine fotografische Abbildung (schwarz/weiss, Format: ca. 12,5 x 17 cm) mit dem Motiv einer Berglandschaft (Bayern, Tirol, Tessin, Steiermark etc.). Schon der Deckel des Kalenders zeigt eine solche Landschaftsfotografie und ist sonst einheitlich im Rahmen der Kalenderreihe gestaltet mit Titel, Blumenillustration und der Jahreszahl. Die Abbildungen sind jeweils mit genauen Ortsangaben und meist auch mit Namen der Fotografen (besonders häufig: Georg Neumann und Ernst Baumann) versehen. In der Kalendertagsübersicht sind bis auf den 1. Mai nur christliche Feiertage vermerkt, es finden sich keine der aus nationalsozialistischer Perspektive besonderen Tage wie etwa der "Geburtstag des Führers" oder "Heldengedenktag", was in den Kalenderpublikationen der Zeit wohl eher ungewöhnlich war. Das Titelblatt vor den Kalenderblättern trägt dem entgegen lediglich den Wortlaut "Berg Heil 1938"!‎
